GEOSLOPE software products are sold as "concurrent use" licenses. The software can be installed on an unlimited number of computers in your office. The number of simultaneous users of the software is restricted by the number of licenses purchased.
A standalone license is installed on an individual desktop or laptop computer, whereas a network license is installed on a computer chosen as the network license server computer, and is thus accessible by all computers on the network.
If a standalone license (also known as a node-locked license) is purchased, the license will require activation. Without activation, the license will not be enabled and the software will not be fully functional. If a license is being shared among several colleagues in an office, the licence can be "returned" (deactivated) from one computer and activated on another up to ten times per month.
A network license (also known as a floating license) is an ideal solution for offices that share software over a Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN). There is no limit to the number of network licenses that can be purchased; the number can be customized to fit the number of users in your company. For example, purchasing one network license allows one person at a time to run the software from any computer on the network; if five network licenses are purchased, a 5-user license will be issued, enabling up to five people to run the software at any given time.
A network license requires activation on a ‘server computer’ which runs a license server program that monitors the number of users concurrently running the GEOSLOPE software. Utilizing a well-known network license management program called ‘FlexNet™ Publisher’, a software license can be granted to anyone on the network if a license is available.
Network licenses can be ‘detached’, allowing an end-user to check out a license and then disconnect from the corporate network. A detachable license offers flexibility, but may not be suitable for all environments. If you wish to utilize this feature, please contact GEOSLOPE for details.
It is possible to change your license type from standalone to network or vice versa, at any time, though costs may be incurred. Please contact GEOSLOPE for details.
Effective for 12 months (to the last day of the month that the maintenance was purchased). All software updates released while your maintenance is valid will work with your license.
Your existing software version will continue to work; however, updates and bug fixes will not be available. Software updates released after your maintenance expires will not work with your license.
Licensing and installation support is still provided, but engineering support is only provided at an additional cost.
Lapsed maintenance can be reactivated by paying the annual maintenance fees that were missed, to a maximum of 60% of the new license price.
One year of annual maintenance is approximately 20% of the initial license price. Annual maintenance is purchased as a separate item, in 12-month increments. Twelve equal payments can be made monthly on a valid credit card with a signed authorization letter. Refer to the Price List for specific prices.
No, maintenance is optional.
Without maintenance, "upgrading" a license to the current release is done simply by paying the annual maintenance fees that were missed, to a maximum of 60% of the new license price.
Let's say you buy a SLOPE/W license on September 1st, but you choose not to purchase the $900 annual maintenance. You can continue to use your SLOPE/W license indefinitely with whatever version of GeoStudio you downloaded in September. But if a new version is released in December and you install that version, it will say you do not have a valid license, and it will not run.
Perhaps that December release has some new features you really want to take advantage of. You can purchase a year of annual maintenance in December, but the cost will be pro-rated to include the three months you missed, so instead of $900 it will cost 900 + (3 x (900 ÷ 12)) = $1,125. For that price you get to use the December release as well as all new releases for the next twelve months.
If you have a license for GeoStudio 2007 or older, you can pay 60% of a new license price to "upgrade" to the latest release.
Add SEEP3D to SEEP/W to unlock the power of 3D groundwater flow analysis. Designed for geotechnical engineers who must understand seepage in levees, earth dams, natural slopes, and excavations, SEEP3D has the same intuitive workflow found in our 2D products. SEEP3D provides limited BUILD3D tools to quickly create simple 3D geometry by extrusion, apply materials and boundary conditions to 3D objects, generate a finite element mesh, and solve and interpret 3D results.
BUILD3D is a revolutionary, time-saving tool for constructing 3D analysis-ready geometries. Its powerful, feature-based design allows for quick construction of 3D geotechnical models with complex topography or geology, and sweeping tunnels or rivers. When added to a SEEP3D license, BUILD3D offers a suite of intuitive sketch tools and powerful Boolean operations beyond simple extrusion, including sketch, sweep, cut, merge, and imprint. The BUILD3D license also unlocks the ability to import and export STEP/STL files for use with CAD programs.
